You wear a purple coat Make shadows on the snow Kiss a cloud with wild abandon Crocuses grow through your skin Bracing for the dream that plays all night Your mouth is open wide And words are flowing out Flying through the air tonight— All your tygers burning bright Seeping to the roots That grow through strife Beautiful Mountain— There is no doubt about it You’re aglow Mountain, you’re so fine You wear a blue-green dress And ride the surface crest Silhouetted figure through— The gauzy fabric draping you Beckoning the dream that cascades by Your eyes are open wide And visions bubble out Swimming through the waves tonight Salty-sweet and full of might Sing Amazing Grace inside of your mind Beautiful Ocean— There is no doubt about it You’re aglow Ocean, you’re so fine All the little voices In your head they say Gratitude, gratitude, gratitude Man, I’m coming home Even if I don’t know the road Even if I’m out in the cold Maybe lost Or maybe not yet found I belong— Within this song Oh, how many times will you walk this Path before you leave a rut Lately taken on a whim And how many times will you play this Dream before it draws to an end Painterly

I skate in the morning When the wind blows through the dell Again in the evening When the Moon glows high A Blue Heron in the sky Wonder where it goes Prehistoric majesty— A pleasure to behold Cheeks are rosy from the cold Heart is full and pure I might have stayed here all day long But I had to go to work

World, how did you miss these Words from a mountaintop Whispered on the breeze Spoke of our eventual Induction to the Hall of Souls How became the end of us— Answers would appease What befell Atlantis— What clues did it leave Will our words betray us All I said was— All I meant was— All I once was— World, how did you miss these Words from a parking lot Spoken to the trees Written on our skin— As water laps our knees Play with the mythology What answer will it weave What will become of this How will it be Will our words outstay us All I said was— All I meant was— All I once was—

Morning, late February Slanted sunlight throws Shadows on snow Evening constellations All the gifts bestowed Sealed with a bow Do I see these tiny lights aglow The same as you once did All those years ago I have been orbiting the lot of you Ooh gravitation— The pull is so strong So set this seed in a sunny window Mmm watch it grow— And in good time Breathless

about

Some of the songs on this record have been percolating inside of me for decades; others have emerged more recently. It’s a mixture of a few fully-fledged songs and a couple of sonic experiments or “palate cleansers.” I recorded this at my home studio, from March through August of 2023.

At this time I do not plan to press any CDs, tapes, or vinyl, though out of habit I designed album art that suggests these formats.

Many thanks to Rebecca Meek for taking the back cover photo (included in the bonus items) that makes me look like a rock star. The goofy pic on the front cover I took myself, while ice skating on a pond (one of my happy places).

On my website I’ve written more about the inspiration, the process, and the product, but here and now I will leave it at this:

I’ve poured my heart into this work, and I hope that it moves you in some way. Art is love made manifest.
